Found Nine Quick Tips to Identify Clutter and it is a must-read for the upcoming spring cleaning we will all be doing.
- Does this thing work?
- Would I replace it if it were broken or lost?
- Does it seem potentially useful—but never actually gets used?
- Was I “saving” it?
- Does it serve its purpose well?
- Has it been replaced by a better model?
- Is it nicely put away in an out-of-the-way place?
- Does this memento actually prompt any memories?
- Have I ever used this thing?
Keep these questions handy and before you know it, you will be clutter-free!
[Zon's Detox] Your WorkSpace
Your environment plays a crucial part when trying to stay motivated while detoxing your life. It can give you positive energy, or it can smog you down depending on what is surrounding you. Today I want to talk about detoxing and simplifying your workspace.
Your workspace is critical to your productivity. That is why examining how your space is set up is so important. It serves as your work canvas. To allow your mind to think as creatively and work as productively as possible, you have to give it an environment to do so.
- Tackle the Paper Monster. You know that huge pile of papers that keeps getting bigger? Yea, get rid of it. Sort through them and throw away as many as you can. Once the Paper Monster is gone, set up a personal system on how to organize all papers you get from that point on. Having a designated place will help.
- Only have one of everything. How many sticky note pads to you really need? All your extra supplies do not need to be at your desk. Keep them somewhere else because they are taking up too much space in your area and in your mind.
- Only happy visuals. If you chose to display anything, make sure it is something that gives you an instant “happy boost” when you look at it. If you see it and it doesn’t change your mood, you don’t need it there.
- Clean your computer. I don’t know if it’s just me, but when I clean out my computer I feel 50 pounds lighter! Go though all your downloaded files, images, icons on your desktop, and your email inbox and DELETE with no mercy. Have appropriate folders and designate what must stay.
- Bring it to life. Sometimes having a plant adds the finishing touch to your desk. Choose one that requires low maintenance like bamboo or an orchid!

[Zon's Detox] Simplify Your Life
Going along with my detox tips and last weeks 3 Everyday Goals, I want to share a few ways to simplify your life. My detox doesn’t revolve around what you eat, instead it revolves around cleansing your life as a whole. Simplifying your life can be a challenge and maybe a series of its own. These are just few of hundreds of ways to make your everyday life more simple!
- Toss it out. Think of it as spring cleaning of your life. Go through everything and throw away or donate everything you don’t need or use. When you’re surrounded by clutter, your mind is cluttered too. A clear space allows a clear mind. Think of making your space as minimalistic as possible.
- Finish what you started. This refers to not only products or material items, but also your responsibilities. How many lotions do you have half-way used? Finishing one before opening another can really simplify your life. Finish all your projects too before taking on another. It will help you give one goal the attention it deserves.
- Get rid of what you don’t love. Again, this applies to your everyday life as well as your big picture. Life should only revolve around people, things, and goals your LOVE. If you don’t love it, you’re wasting your time.
There you have it, 3 ways to start simplifying your life!
[Zon's Detox] 3 Everyday Goals
Before jumping into a full thrown detox, it’s safer to start adjusting your everyday lifestyle. You can see dramatic results by making very small changes. The key is consistency. You have to learn to make these things a habit. I once heard if you do something 31 times straight without skipping, you’ve gained a new habit, so maybe keeping that in mind will help you! Here are 3 small steps with big results to make NOW:
- Watch less TV. Limit the amount of time watching TV or completely cut it out of your life, like I did. Watching TV is a dangerous habit because it can waste a lot of your time. Rid your mind of reality TV shows and awful commercials. The time spent watching TV can be focused on something much more fulfilling.
- Stop Gossiping. When you talk about others, especially in a negative way, it can bring down your self-confidence and gives you bad energy. Focusing on good thoughts and showing happiness for others and their lives can bring up your spirits and reflect on the things that happen to you.
- Breathe Deeply. People forget to breathe and especially forget how powerful it can be. Taking deep breaths oxygenates your lungs, bloodstream, heart and whole brain. It can also mentally release all worries and stress as you exhale.
Remember, consistence is key. Make a note to remind you to do these three things to get on the right track to a better life!
Zon’s Detox
Last summer I decided to go through a detox. I had felt sick, heavy, and unhealthy. So I decided to give a detox a try and ended up loving the results. Afterwards, I felt like a new person. Much lighter and clean. I’m not going to lie, it was very difficult but the results were worth it all.
I decided that I wanted to share some tips on how to detoxify yourself this year. I’ll be sharing ways to detoxify yourself socially, productively, physically, and emotionally. If there is something specific you’d like to know more about, let me know!
